The warrant screener is a powerful tool that helps you find the perfect covered warrants for your investment strategy. Learn how to effectively filter, sort, and analyze warrants to make informed trading decisions.

Understanding the Screener Interface

The warrant screener provides a comprehensive view of all available covered warrants with real-time data. The interface is divided into two main sections: the filter panel at the top and the results table below. All filters work together in real-time, automatically updating the results as you adjust your criteria.

Quick Start

The screener automatically loads all available warrants when you visit the page. By default, Phu Hung Securities (PHS) warrants are pre-selected, helping you quickly find our products.

Using Filters Effectively

Filters are the core feature of the screener, allowing you to narrow down thousands of warrants to those that match your specific criteria. Here's how to use each filter:

1. Underlying Symbol Filter

The underlying symbol filter lets you select specific stocks or indices you want exposure to. For example, if you're bullish on Vingroup (VIC), you would select "VIC" from the checkboxes.

Best Practice

  • Select multiple underlying assets to compare different opportunities simultaneously
  • If no underlying is selected, all assets will be shown in the results

2. Type Filter (Call vs. Put)

Choose between Call warrants (for bullish strategies) and Put warrants (for bearish strategies). You can select both types to see all available options.

  • C
Call Warrants: Best when you expect the underlying asset price to rise. These give you the right to buy the underlying asset at the strike price.
  • P
Put Warrants: Best when you expect the underlying asset price to fall. These give you the right to sell the underlying asset at the strike price.

3. Issuer Filter

Filter warrants by the issuing institution. Phu Hung Securities (PHS) warrants are highlighted with a star icon and are pre-selected by default. You can select multiple issuers or none to see all available warrants.

Why PHS Warrants?

Phu Hung Securities offers competitive pricing, reliable execution, and comprehensive support for covered warrant investors. Our warrants are backed by thorough research and market analysis.

4. Moneyness Range Filter

Moneyness indicates whether a warrant is in-the-money (positive) or out-of-the-money (negative). It's calculated as the percentage difference between the underlying price and strike price.

In-the-Money (Positive Moneyness)

The underlying price is above the strike price for calls (or below for puts). These warrants have intrinsic value.

Out-of-the-Money (Negative Moneyness)

The underlying price is below the strike price for calls (or above for puts). These are typically cheaper but riskier.

Example Use Cases

  • Conservative Strategy: Filter for moneyness between 0% and 5% to find slightly in-the-money warrants with lower risk
  • Value Hunting: Filter for negative moneyness (e.g., -10% to 0%) to find cheaper warrants with potential for high returns

5. Time to Maturity Range Filter

This filter lets you select warrants based on how many days remain until expiration. Time to maturity is crucial because it affects both the warrant's time value and its risk profile.

Short-Term (0-30 days)

Higher risk, faster price movements. Best for active traders with strong market views.

Medium-Term (30-90 days)

Balanced risk and time value. Suitable for most investors with moderate risk tolerance.

Long-Term (90+ days)

Lower time decay risk, more time for market movements. Ideal for patient investors.

Understanding the Results Table

The results table displays all warrants matching your filter criteria. Each row shows key information about a warrant, and you can click on the symbol to view detailed information.

Table Columns Explained

Symbol
The unique warrant identifier. Click to view detailed information including charts and orderbook.
Underlying
The stock or index that the warrant is based on (e.g., VIC, VNM, VCB).

Call (green badge) or Put (red badge) warrant type.
Issuer
The institution that issued the warrant. PHS warrants are marked with a star.

Current market price of the underlying asset.

Conversion Ratio
Number of warrants needed to control one share of the underlying asset.
Maturity Date

Sorting Results

You can sort the results by any column by clicking on the column header. The first click sorts in ascending order (↑), and clicking again reverses it to descending order (↓). The currently active sort column is highlighted in green.

Sorting Tips

  • • Sort by Moneyness (descending) to find the most in-the-money warrants
  • • Sort by Maturity Date (ascending) to prioritize warrants expiring soon
  • • Sort by Implied Vol to identify warrants with lower volatility (potentially better value)

Pagination and Navigation

When there are many results, the table displays them across multiple pages. Each page shows up to 10 warrants. Use the pagination controls at the bottom to navigate between pages.

  • Previous/Next Buttons: Navigate to adjacent pages
  • Page Numbers: Click directly on a page number to jump to that page
  • Results Counter: Shows how many warrants match your filters (e.g., "150 warrants found")

Practical Filtering Strategies

Strategy 1: Finding Cheap In-the-Money Calls

  1. Select your target underlying asset (e.g., VIC)
  2. Select "Call" type
  3. Set moneyness range to 0% to 10%
  4. Set time to maturity to 30-90 days
  5. Sort by Moneyness (descending) to see the most in-the-money options first

Strategy 2: Identifying Long-Term Value Plays

  1. Select "PHS" as issuer (or your preferred issuer)
  2. Set time to maturity to 90+ days
  3. Set moneyness range to -20% to 0% (slightly out-of-the-money)
  4. Sort by Maturity Date (ascending) to prioritize longer-term options

Strategy 3: Quick Market Scanning

  1. Leave most filters empty (or select all types)
  2. Sort by Moneyness (descending) to see the most profitable warrants across the market
  3. Review the top results to identify opportunities across different underlying assets

Resetting Filters

If you want to start over or see all warrants again, click the "Reset" button in the top-right corner of the filter panel. This will clear all your filter selections and show the complete list of available warrants.

Pro Tip
